International Radiowave Oceanography Workshop (ROW)

Meeting Venue:
Meeting will be held at the Cinema Golden Gate (Kino Zlatna vrata) on the 1st floor of the old building located 15 meters from the Golden gate of the ancient Diocletian Palace. The facilities have all of the standard equipment needed for conferences and they are presently undergoing renovations to be completed in 2008. Maximum capacity is 150 persons; coffee and sweets during breaks will be served on site. More site information about downtown Split is contained in the ROW 9 lodging information link. For information on getting to Split click here.

Venue Information:
The conference itself and the recommended lodging options are all in historic downtown Split within walking distance of each other. The primary housing recommendation is to take advantage of shared guesthouse accommodations that have been reserved for ROW-9 participants. Other hotel options are also available. Welcome to the row-9 information pages.

This web page is meant to serve as a meeting point for the marine science community members involved with applications of radio wave instruments to coastal oceanography problems. This includes application of high frequency (HF) radar technology to the mapping of ocean surface currents and waves by instruments commonly known by the brand names CODAR/SeaSonde or WERA.

HF radar installations, in particular installations related to wide-area observing systems, are an important activity at this time in the U.S. and elsewhere. ROW-9 will be an opportunity to exchange plans and results from those efforts, including, for example, the national planning taking place at Ocean.US, the state-wide Coastal Ocean Currents Monitoring Program (COCMP) underway in California, and the Italy/Croatia program in the northern Adriatic Sea. As always, ROW-9 will also be an opportunity to exchange scientific results based on mapping ocean currents or waves using shore-based HF radar systems.

The 9th International Radiowave Oceanography Workshop (ROW-9) will be held in Split, Croatia on 19-22 May 2009.

ROW-9 is being hosted by:

Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries in Split, Croatia and

L' Istituto Nazionale di Oceanografia e di Geofisica Sperimentale (OGS), Trieste, Italy.

Note: Prior to ROW-9, the IEEE Oceans 09 conference will be held in Bremen, Germany on 11-14 May 2009.

We look forward to seeing you at ROW-9!
