Getting to Split:
-
•Direct flights to Split come from Stuttgart (German Wings), Rome (Croatian Airlines), Bristol or London (Easy Jet), Vienna (Sky Europe, Austrian Airlines), Prague (Sky Europe) to the Split Airport, which is north of the city close to the wonderful walled city of Trogir.
-
•Connect in Zagreb or Rome with Croatia Airlines or book flights directly to Split.
-
•Flights to Dubrovnik, considered the pearl of the Adriatic, depart from Barcelona (on Click Air) for those who can take some holiday time. The road trip from Dubrovnik to Split takes 4-5 hours by winding coastal road. Inexpensive intercity buses are frequent (trip to Split, a little over 4 hours); tickets must be purchased in cash at the bus station at least 30 minutes before departure and a reservation is advisable.
-
•Airport transfer from the Split airport to the city center: Shuttle buses cost 30 kunas (approximately €4.5), for a trip that takes 30 minutes. Taxis will cost approximately 180 HRK (Croatian kuna), about €25.
-
•Ferry services also offer possibilities for participants. The ferry service from Ancona, Italy, to Split is highly recommended by local organizers. The ferry arrives in downtown Split within walking distance of the lodging and meeting venues. Ferries also connect the islands and Croatian coastal cities, but do not run daily. (***Note: The May dates are too early for the summer ferry schedule.)
