ROW-9 Lodging & Downtown Split Information

The conference itself and the recommended lodging options are all in historic downtown Split within walking distance of each other.

Please Note: The lodging deadlines for fixed rates have all passed. Participants should make their own lodging arrangements directly with a hotel or apartment in Split. You may contact the Dalmatian Villas or the hotels listed below. But rates and availability are no longer guaranteed.

Accommodations in Split:

Guesthouses and Flats:
Accommodations in guesthouses or small flats in Split's historic center, around Diocletian's Palace (fourth century CE) on the harbor, are reasonably priced. Local organizers have arranged for the following agent to work with ROW-9 participants: Dalmatian Villas (Dalmatinske vile), a local rental agency is offering rooms or small flats in completely renovated old Dalmatian stone houses in Split's historic center. Dalmatian Villas' houses are just some 80 steps from the ROW-9 Conference Hall, which is within the Palace Walls. For those who will lodge in Dalmatian Villas, continental breakfast will be served at 7h30' in the restaurant below the conference room. All rooms and apartments are fully furnished, air conditioned, and include Internet connection for the guests (use is unlimited and free of any charge). Prices are very reasonable for the accommodations and the location. To arrange for lodging with Dalmatian Villas, write to Mr. Igor Kosta (igor@dalmatinskevile.hr) putting “ROW-9 participant” on the subject line. Please keep in mind that prices given by Mr. Kosta are per accommodation unit (apartment, room) not per person. ROW-9 participants should consider sharing apartments in some cases. All details related to your accommodation at Dalmatian Villas should be settled with Mr. Kosta directly. Click Here to see photos, sizes, and costs of the apartments.

The location of these units is shown under the Apartments symbol in the image below.
Note: A total of 15 apartments were reserved for ROW-9 participants through 28 February 2009. Availability at this time is unknown.

Hotels:
The following hotels are recommended. To request a preferred rate, mention that you will be attending ROW-9. You must, however, book early because there is a lot of pressure for hotel accommodations in Split in May. To received a discounted rate, your hotel reservation must have been secured before 31 January 2009. Rates and availability at this time are unknown, but it is still recommended that late inquiries mention ROW-9 at the time of booking.

Price of hotels varies from 100 USD up to 200 USD for a single room, depending of facilities and location. All rates include taxes and breakfast. (The tourist tax must be paid extra, which is 7 kn ~1.2 USD per day; see currency page.) The recommended hotels are:

  1. Hotel Peristil**** is a new, well-appointed hotel about a 10-minute walk inland from Diocletian's Palace, to the north-northeast.

  2. Hotel Kastel*** is on the waterfront in the Diocletian's Palace - southwest around the hook in the harbor. Rooms are small due to historic location. Use of the Internet connection charged at reception.
